These first two drinks can be made in a glass over ice, but the last one will need to be done in a cocktail shaker to create the foam topping.
This chai-inspired drink was a delicious addition to my cocktail line up. The warm spices make this a go-to for any winter celebration or night in. My chai concentrate was made using my french press & 3 bags of chai tea. I poured hot water over the tea bags and let the mixture steep for 1-2 hours. You could also use cold water and let it set overnight.
My spiced half & half was a huge success for this drink, despite the first attempt at this concoction accidentally being used in a savory dish. Labeling is veryyyy important.
Bless Her Heart is an homage to my southern roots and makes me think of my amazing and hilarious sister in law & mother in law. I love hearing their accents when they say this & you do not want to be on the receiving end of this phrase.
For the simple syrup, I heated water, honey, 2 juiced and halved lemons, and three rosemary stalks in a pot. I let the mixture begin to simmer and then turned down the heat. I then let the mixture steep overnight with the rosemary. This would also be fabulous in hot tea.
Named by my cousin Hannah, the sour lover is a crowd pleasing show-stopper. With only four ingredients, we were amazed with how much flavor and texture were in this drink.
Aquafaba is the liquid from cooking chickpeas. In this case, we drained the liquid from canned chickpeas. YES. Essentially bean juice. I challenge you to make this drink & then tell me this isn’t the most delicious bean juice you’ve ever tasted.
This was also my first time using aquafaba to make my drink foam. It is super common in vegan cooking, and I normally use frothed milk or egg whites. I have to admit, the aquafaba was amazingly smooth and added little taste to the drink itself. I preferred the texture it provided versus the egg white.
It is very important that you make this drink in a cocktail shaker and shake vigorously. This is what creates the foam topping that adds the delicious froth/foam layer.
